At this company there is a vacancy for a motivated and experienced Grower Ornamental/Bedding/Perennials.
Job description
As a grower you will be responsible for the cultivation and quality of a diverse range of ornamental plants, bedding plants and perennials. You will combine practical growing expertise with technical insight and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of growing processes. You will work in a dynamic, international environment where quality, innovation and efficient production are key priorities.
Your responsibilities:
- Plan, manage, and optimise the cultivation of a wide range of ornamental plants, bedding plants, and perennials
- Monitor and manage growing conditions, including climate, irrigation, fertilisation and crop protection
- Monitor crop development, plant health and product quality, making timely adjustments where necessary
- Develop, implement, and improve growing protocols and cultivation methods
- Carry out and coordinate plant protection measures and apply Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles
- Inspect and maintain irrigation systems, climate control installations, and other growing facilities
- Ensure a hygienic working environment and compliance with applicable quality, safety and phytosanitary regulations
- Maintain crop records, analyse growing results and support audits and certification processes
- Supervise, guide and instruct employees and seasonal workers in cooperation with management
- Work closely with colleagues to continuously improve plant productivity, uniformity, and quality
What we're looking for
- A completed qualification in horticulture, crop production, agronomy, or a related field
- Demonstrable experience in professional ornamental horticulture, preferably involving bedding plants, perennials, and/or other ornamental crops
- Good knowledge of plant physiology, growing techniques, climate control, irrigation, and fertilisation
- Experience in crop protection and the identification and prevention of plant diseases and pests
- Technical aptitude and an interest in climate computers, irrigation systems, and modern greenhouse or growing technologies
- A strong focus on quality and a structured, results-oriented approach to work
- Good communication skills and experience in supervising and guiding employees
- A proactive attitude, a hands-on mentality, and the ability to make independent decisions
- Good knowledge of MS Office and experience in maintaining crop records
- Good command of English; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage
