Job description
As a Head Grower, you will oversee crop health, quality, scheduling, and production performance. You’ll lead Section Growers, IPM staff, and Assistant Growers while collaborating with Operations to optimize growing practices and drive continuous improvement.
Your key responsibilities are
- Lead growing operations and ensure crop health, quality, and production targets
- Coach and develop a high-performing growing team
- Manage irrigation, nutrition, climate control, and crop scheduling
- Develop and improve Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs
- Identify crop risks and implement solutions to protect quality and yield
- Optimize growing conditions, energy efficiency, and operational performance
- Introduce innovative technologies and improved growing practices
What we're looking for
- Degree in horticulture, agriculture, plant science, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience as a Head Grower or in a similar senior role
- Strong horticultural knowledge and commercial greenhouse experience
- Proven leadership and team development skills
- Experience with Argus Climate Controls
- British Columbia Pesticide Applicator Certificate
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- A hands-on, collaborative approach
- Knowledge of the Spanish language is preferred
- Experience in large-scale commercial greenhouse operations is preferred
